Demon's Torment

First released as Daemon at StarDust Press, now renamed and with a dark, intriguing cover, Demon’s Torment is a story difficult  to put down once you begin. I originally read it as a work-in-process in my author critique group and remember how I wanted to get back to it as soon as possible and find out what happens next. After Rachel submitted it at Forbidden, the owner read the manuscript and kept saying how excellent the story was. She could not stop reading it either. Going through edits was a breeze, like line-editing in fact, due to this author’s clear voice and attention to detail. Even re-reading it was a journey I enjoyed returning to during this process. I am proud and honored to be a part of this book and wish it much success.
Rachel D. Thompson has created a believable character, a young woman who is haunted by nightmares of her own death–at least she’s the one killing herself in the dreams, even though the women whose body she inhabits are from different times and places. Ally sees a doctor about her recurring nightmares and battles the insomnia and fatigue they cause as she tries to make her way through college.
Things look up for her when she meets Greg, a student at the college. They hit it off, but their budding relationship is cut short when Ally is called home to face her father’s tragic circumstance. The story unfolds with mystery, horror and a strange kind of love–the likes of which I adore.
If you like things that go bump in the night as much as I do, in fact, if you love them and their dark ways, I encourage you to nab your very own Demon’s Torment when it comes out from Forbidden Publications. It’s a step into pugatory, into the heart and mind of a demon, an escape you will not forget.
Congratulations, Rachel, on your upcoming release!

Enslaved by Lady Midnight

Enter the mind and lifestyle of Derek DeWine, doctor, husband and Master. In his world a group of prestigious men, all Masters as well, run a hospital specializing in body modifications such as breast augmentation. Derek is a breast man in every sense of the word. When potential patient, Calista Carter visits his office wanting her breasts enlarged, he sees something in this former Olympic gold medal winner, something he wants for himself. He offers her a place in his project, but she needs to make changes in her ways. She needs to get off the pain killers she’s been taking for her hip injury and she needs to gain weight. Calista also needs to get her head on straight and face her past.

Derek’s methods are experimental and much more natural than the accepted ways of today. He uses the body’s own fats to build up the breast and pain is managed by orgasm. But Calista needs more than larger breasts. She needs to place her life, her very self in the hands a of a Master she can trust, love and fully surrender to. Little does Derek know he needs a slave who can love him in the only way he requires and his wife isn’t making the cut.

This is a winding tale of submission and Dominance, a world where sex is shared and controlled by these doctors. Once I began reading, I couldn’t escape and I couldn’t put the book down. I had to know what would happen next. I read it in three nights, the fastest I’ve ever read anything. While Lady Midnight shows an alternative lifestyle and brings it to light by delving deeply into her main character’s head, she also shows the humainty of her character and those he protects, owns and even loves. I didn’t like Dr. DeWine or his associates. I didn’t like the women he so desperately needed in his life, but I don’t think the author’s intent was for me to like them. She offers a side I’ve never seen, a different way to love, to experience pleasure. She explains Derek’s logic and despite my aversion to his way of thinking–it all makes sense!

I highly recommend Enslaved. It’s a curious ride that will have you cringing, on the edge of your seat, sad in some places, turned on in many others. The medical modifications underwent to please another frightened me, but the characters chose their fate, accepted it and found the contentment they so needed in their lives. The end is redeeming and reveals the true nature of every player involved. I loved this book!

The Healing Spirit: Daily Devotions for Coping With Depression by Dedra J. Morgan HFP

·         The Healing Spirit Daily Devotions for Coping With DepressionBy: Dedra J. Morgan HFPThis e-book came to me at a point in my life when someone dear to me was being affected by depression. It’s an ugly, cruel disease often robbing a person of self-esteem and hope. I found Dedra’s words to be insightful as she explained how she has coped with depression. She offers simple ways to boost self worth that any person will find useful. The one I loved most is her reasoning for silence. It also includes prayers and quotes by the author.http://www.forbiddenpublications.com/book_pages/the_healing_spirit.html

The Shape of a Woman by S.D. Grady

November 22, 2007 at 9:18 pm (Book Reviews)

·         The Shape of A WomanBy: S.D. GradyS.D. Grady takes the mid-life crises of a woman and shows what we all hate: our body is no longer the shapely, thin thing it used to be. Skin sags, there’s hair where there shouldn’t be, and jeez it just sucks to get old!She takes Muriel, her main character, on a journey of the heart and self discovery. This is a love story that touched me deeply the first, second and third time I read it. http://www.forbiddenpublications.com/book_pages/the_shape_of_a_woman.html

·         Ridley’s RivalBy: Dawne’ DominiqueA modern day cowboy love story packed with sexual tension and featuring my favorite: opposites who attract! Ashern Ridley pretty much makes an ass of himself. He’s a spoiled bad boy who needs to be taught some life lessons. Madison is just the woman to do it. Sweet, intense, erotic and a fun ride with meaning along the way. http://loveyoudivine.com/FairyTalesandLoveSongs/bookpages/ridleysrival.htm

·         DenialBy: Bryn ColvinThis was my first published M/M read. Bryn is a master of creating characters who feel real, have their own whacked quirks, and who lured me to read on. Fraser and Darren have some issues to work out. I loved the settings, the emails, the tension and the ebb of trust and passion.http://loveyoudivine.com/HisandHisKisses/bookpages/denial.htm
